When the Society has a speaker meeting there may be opportunities to dine the speaker, contact the committee for details. Unless otherwise stated all meetings begin at 8pm.


First Week (20th January): Video Evening
The Society will meet in the Ferrar Room (Hertford College) to catch up on Holiday gossip and watch The Black Cauldron.

Second Week (27th January): Speaker Meeting
Geoff (Andrew Smith) will discuss the topic of Geoffrey of Monmouth's Truthfulness. Meet in Lecture Room C of Queen's College.

Third Week (3rd February): Speaker Meeting
Professor Helen Cooper (University College) will address the society on the topic of "Arthur and Sir Thomas Mallory: The Best of the Storytellers." Meet in Lecture Room C of Queen's College.

Fourth Week (10th February) : Speaker Meeting
The well-known Arthur and Arthurian specialist John Matthews will take up the subject of "The Search for Wonder in Arthurian Tradition." Meet in Lecture Room C of Queen's College.

Fifth Week (17th February): Poetry Evening
Bring your favourite Arthurian-related works by others or whatever of your own that you wish to enthral the rest of the merry gathering with. Meet in the Old Tabs Room of Queen's College.

Sixth Week (24th February): Celtic Festival Preparation Evening
Check out your costume options and practise those dances while getting tips from seasoned costumers and partygoers. Meet in the Old Tabs Room of Queen's College

7pm Saturday 26th February: The Annual Celtic Festival
Tickets cost 6 pounds (7.50 pounds non-members). Venue to be announced on the Grail-l emailing list and by flyer later in the term. The annual society Celtic Festival in costume (not obligatory), including medieval-style feasting, entertainments and dancing. So, polish up your chain-mail, clean that doublet or darn the kirtle, for the bodice-flashing, mead-swigging, chicken/vegetable-ripping extravaganza!

Seventh Week (2nd March):Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Elect you new committee to run the society and fill the offices of the Court of Arthur in Oxford. Or better still, stand for a post and enjoy the noble art of serving the society. Meet in Lecture Room C of Queen's College.

Eighth Week (9th March): Pancake Party
As the 9th of March is but two days past Shrove Tuesday, the society is happy in the opinion that it's not too sacrilegious to have Lenten Commemoration, with pancakes. Meet in the Old Tabs Room of Queen's College.
